City of San Juan Bautista
Incorporated in 1869, San Juan Bautista, population 1,600, is most famous for the historic Old Mission San Juan Bautista, the largest of the California missions, originally built in 1797. The quaint downtown is immediately adjacent to the mission and is an Antiquer’s paradise. The main drag is lined with charming shops and quaint restaurants, and the pace of life is reminiscent of an age long gone. Despite the town’s ample charms and desirable lifestyle, it is less than 3 miles from Hwy 101, less than 35 miles to Carmel’s fine dining, and less than 46 miles from San Jose International Airport and the world beyond. San Juan Bautista is nestled in the San Juan Valley between the Gabilan Mountains and Flint Hills. Map Chamber of Commerce Contact |
